SEMPA TUCSON CONFERENCE BREAKS ATTENDANCE RECORD!!

First, thanks to all of you who attended the SEMPA Tucson conference.  It was a major success, breaking the previous attendance record.  The analysis of those all-important evaluation forms is underway.  Early results:  General subject matter: 98% approval rating; clinical relevance: 97% approval; speaker quality: 97% approval rating.

Our speakers as well were very complimentary, in particular commenting on the professionalism and appreciation shown by our audience.  One physician said she had never spoken in front of a more attentive audience.  Another commented on how impressed he was regarding attendance and how full the room was for even the late afternoon presentations.  I hear this every year from presenters: PAs are a great audience and the speakers truly enjoy the experience.

The weather cooperated and provided a wonderful break especially for those of us from the snowy northern states.  Lounging around the pool or enjoying a stroll in the beautiful mountains surrounding the resort became the popular afternoon event.  The outdoor party in the old west venue provided the opportunity to relax and catch up with colleagues while enjoying quite a feast.

I had the opportunity to talk to a lot of you and appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.  Planning is already well underway for Marco Island next year, so be sure to mark your calendars for April 5 – 9, 2009.  The hotel has opened our block so you can reserve your ocean-side room now.  Be sure to go on-line and view the property, it is quite impressive.  And keep checking in at sempa.org for conference updates; as we get closer we will be sending e-news blasts to our membership as well.

Another special thank you to the staff from the Kautter Management Group:  Barbara Beatty, Jessie Laux, Marna Krot and Sandy Manon.  They definitely made my job much easier.
