University of Iowa Emergency Medicine PA Residency

Inception Date: 7/1/2008

Curriculum: Required weekly didactics that consist of lectures, simulations, small group case discussions, Grand Rounds and M&M. Required monthly journal clubs.

Clinical Rotations:

  • Emergency Medicine - 9 months
  • Pediatric Emergency Medicine - 3 months 
  • Trauma Surgery - 1 month 
  • Surgical/neurologic intensive care - 1 month 
  • Anesthesia - 2 weeks 
  • Orthopedics - 2 weeks 
  • Multi-disciplinary rotation - 2 weeks 
  • Orientation/EKG - 2 weeks 
  • Elective - 2 months

Program Length: 18 months

Class Size: 2 residents per class

Class start dates: February 1

Credential: Certificate

Stipend: $55,000/year

CME: ATLS, ACLS, PALS
