Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency

Inception Date: 2007

Curriculum: Weekly conference attendance, which includes lecture, small group, grand rounds and hands-on, 4 - 5 hours weekly, monthly self-directed reading (8-10 + hrs/month) and ROSH Reviews (2 hrs/month), SIM training twice yearly (4 hrs each)

Clinical Rotations:

  • Pediatric Emergency Department - 4 weeks
  • Radiology - 2 weeks
  • Orthopedics - 2 weeks
  • Neurology - 2 weeks 
  • Ophthalmology - 2 weeks
  • Emergency Bedside Ultrasound - 2 weeks
  • Anesthesia - 2 weeks
  • Burn Intensive Care Unit - 2 weeks
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology - 1 week
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit - 6 weeks
  • Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - 4 weeks
  • Emergency Department - 10. 5 months

Program Length: 18 months

Class Size: 2 residents every 6 months

Stipend: $48,174 per year (a total of $72,261 for the entirety of the 18-month residency)

Benefits: Life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability and malpractice insurance. Medical, dental and vision plans also are offered, as well as continuing medical education funds. All residents receive paid time off.

CME: ACLS, ATLS, ABLS, FCCS, emergency ultrasound
