University of New Mexico Emergency Medicine PA Residency

Inception Date: 6/27/2016

Curriculum: 5 hours/week conference, plus occasional supplemental PA education. One (1) day/ month SIM, weekly M&M, 2-3 hours small group per month cases, 2-3 hours / month research, rest faculty and resident lectures

Clinical Rotations:

  • 1 block Orientation 
  • 7 blocks adult emergency medicine 
  • 1 block longitudinal emergency department resuscitation unit (adult) 
  • 2 blocks pediatric emergency medicine 
  • 1 block orthopedics 
  • 1 block cardiology consult service 
  • 1 block combined ultrasound-Anesthesia 
  • 0.5 blocks toxicology 
  • 0.5 blocks OB/GYN 
  • 1 block Medical ICU 
  • 1 block Surgical ICU
  • 2 blocks elective

Program Length: 18 months

Class Size: 2 residents

Class start dates: Last Tuesday in June (or concurrent date with ACGME)

Credential: Certificate

Stipend: $57,000/per year
